### Trump Extends Belarus Sanctions for Another Year
U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to extend sanctions against Belarusian leadership for another year, according to a report by Russian state news agency RIA Novosti. The corresponding executive order has been registered in the official U.S. government documents repository, with publication expected on May 26.
The document states that the state of emergency declared under Executive Order 13405 will remain in effect beyond June 16, 2026. Restrictions on Belarusian authorities will stay in place for at least another year.
The U.S. side believes that the reasons that justified the initial imposition of sanctions in 2006 remain valid. This is cited as the rationale for extending the restrictive measures.
The sanctions regime against Belarusian leadership was first introduced by the U.S. in 2006 and has been repeatedly extended by subsequent administrations.
