In the Kaliningrad region, a court has passed a sentence in a high-profile criminal case concerning large-scale damage to the power grid complex. As reported by Kaliningrad News, the heads of three territorial grid organizations have been sentenced for years-long machinations with electricity supply.

The case involves the embezzlement of 532 million rubles, which the company leaders managed to appropriate over the period from 2009 to 2020 by concealing actual consumption. Within the framework of this scheme, the defendants failed to notify the guaranteed supplier about the existence of more than five and a half thousand contracts with new subscribers and concealed the actual volumes of electricity sold.

As a result, the three defendants have been sentenced to serve 3 to 4.5 years in a general regime colony. The damage caused to the regional power grid organization has been fully compensated by them. The defendants were unsuccessful in appealing the sentence.
