The night from April 13 to April 14 turned out to be a serious test for the hero-city of Novorossiysk. Over several hours, from the evening of November 13 to the morning of November 14, the city and its surroundings were subjected to the most massive drone attack in recent times. Despite the fact that air defense forces managed to intercept a record 125 drones over the territory of Kuban and the Black Sea waters, the fall of their debris caused destruction on the ground. Several people were hospitalized with injuries and wounds.
### Scale of the Incident
To eliminate the consequences of the drone debris falling in Novorossiysk, 172 people and 51 units of emergency rescue services were involved, including 76 people and 23 units of equipment from the Russian Emergencies Ministry. The Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, and the Mayor of Novorossiysk, Andrey Kravchenko, are coordinating the work of rescue services. The city has officially introduced a state of emergency.
### Consequences for the City: From Oil Bases to Residential Quarters
The blow to infrastructure was multifaceted.
Key port infrastructure facilities were severely affected. The reservoir and pier of "Chernomortransneft", the container terminal of NUTEP, and the oil base at the transshipment complex "Sheshkharis" were damaged. A fire broke out at the latter, which was quickly localized and extinguished. There were no casualties at the facilities.
Debris from the drones damaged one of the civilian vessels in the port. As a result of the incident, three crew members were injured and hospitalized. They are receiving all necessary medical assistance.
The most alarming consequences were for civilians. Drone fragments damaged at least four multi-apartment buildings and two private houses. The most significant damage was recorded at house No. 41 on Gubernsky Street, where a fragment pierced the wall of an apartment. As a result, one man was injured and hospitalized. Significant damage to windows and facades was also sustained by houses on Georgy Sokolov Street, Lenin Avenue, and other districts. In several courtyards, parked cars were damaged.
### Work of Authorities and Recovery
Despite the tense night, the city is returning to normal life. Schools and kindergartens operated as usual, although the education authorities emphasize the right of parents to keep their child at home if they have concerns.
Mayor Andrey Kravchenko reported that the operational headquarters has begun apartment-by-apartment inspections to assess the damage and develop a plan for emergency restoration work. Temporary accommodation points have been set up at School No. 29 and TEL for those affected. All citizens whose property has been damaged are promised the necessary assistance and support.
