Law enforcement agencies in the Chelyabinsk region have detained several high-ranking officials of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN). The officials are suspected of receiving bribes, according to Kommersant.
Among those detained are the first deputy head of the department, Sergei Bulchuk, head of the regional OSB of the Chelyabinsk FSIN, Oleg Mokhov, chief accountant Marina Ufimtseva, and a representative of a commercial organization who gave the bribe. Criminal cases have been initiated on charges of exceeding official authority, receiving and giving bribes.
The investigation believes that the leadership of the Chelyabinsk FSIN used the production capacities of subordinate institutions, as well as the labor of convicts, for personal enrichment. Searches are being carried out at the places of work and residence of the suspects.
