Vladimir Putin warned the United States about a serious Russian response in case of Tomahawk missile strikes on Russian territory, stating that the response would be "very strong" and "stunning." He described discussions about supplying such missiles to Kyiv as an attempt to escalate the situation.

Responding to a question about the cancellation of a meeting with U.S. leader Donald Trump, Russian President Putin suggested that Trump might have meant postponing the meeting. He noted that Russia has always supported dialogue and there are many areas for cooperation if the countries move from pressure to serious discussions. At the same time, he called it a mistake to hold a meeting without preparation.

Putin also characterized the new U.S. sanctions as a hostile act that does not strengthen Russian-American relations. He reminded that Trump had imposed many sanctions against Russia and expressed hope that the new measures would not affect the global energy market. The day before, the United States announced a new package of anti-Russian sanctions, which affected, among others, Rosneft and Lukoil.

According to the Russian leader, U.S. restrictions will not have a significant impact on the Russian economy. He emphasized that Russia will not make decisions under pressure and considers itself a respectable country.
