Deputies of the State Duma adopted an amendment to the Code of Administrative Offenses, which establishes a fine for purposefully searching the Internet for extremist materials prohibited in the Russian Federation, including using a VPN.

We are talking about materials included in the list of the Ministry of Justice. Currently, this list consists of almost 5,5 thousand extremist materials. Their search and use will be punishable by a fine of 2 to 5 thousand rubles.
